CONTRACTS AND PROJECTS 

The wide-ranging international consultancy activities, which were developed over the period, from 1992 till the present.

ALC has developed consultancy in Europe, Africa,Middle East and Far East in all aspects of agriculture, food processing, marketing, with contracts for a wide range of companies and organisations.

Currently our main focus is still on food safety and veterinary related projects, especially the provision of and development of animal identification and registration systems, which include movement control and veterinary surveillance and treatments.

We can utilise our skills and experience in I&R systems as we continue our expansion into food safety and food certification projects.

We have also successfully developed a Toolikt of web tools which we have used to build animal I&R systems,establishment assurance and inspections systems, LIMS, food safety tracking and tracing systems

Worldwide

January 2008 – September 2008 in association with ID Lelystad  
 Recipient: DG SANCO of the European Commission
Funding: EC
Review of the training needs for Highly Pathogenic Avian Flu (HPAI) in selected countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Far East. Organise internatonal workshop in Brussels and carry out review mission to 10 selected countries in target regions

Europe

2006 and 2007 in association with ID Lelystad & Food Ciontrol Consultants Ltd  
 Recipient: DG SANCO of the EC
Funding: EC
Training in the identification, control, traceability and treatment of animal by-products (ABP). A series of workshops were organised in various EU Member States attended by participants from all Member States, candidate and accession countries, selected other countries. Training was provided in all aspects of ABP controls and visits were undertaken to ABP facilities including rendering and incineration, biogas, and composting.

Development of Food safety services - preparation of ToR and project fiches.

Egypt

June 2007 – December 2007  
 Recipient: General Organisation for Veterinary Servicese
Funding: EU –MEDA
Preparation of a twinning fiche for the upgrade of animal disease monitoring and control policies. A review of the current policies and capacity of the GOVS was undertaken and a twinning fiche provided

Afghanistan

January 2006 ongoing, in association with Landell Mills Ltd and ID Lelystad  
 Recipient: Ministry of Agriculture and Food
Funding: EU –MEDA
Provision of Technical Assistance for the development of the animal health programme

Turkey

July 2006 – December 2006  
 Recipient: Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs
Funding: EU MEDA
Preparation of sectoral analysis reports for certain agricultural products (red meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables).

ACP Countries

December 2005 – March 2006  
 Recipient: AIDCO of the EC
Funding: EU
Formulation of a support programme to strengthen the ACP Countries to meet the SPS requiremnets in international trade, particularly with the EU.

Bulgaria

December 2006 – October 2007 in association with IDLelystad  
 Recipient: Ministry of Agriculture and Food
Funding: EU –PHARE
Develop a strategy for the re-organisation of the food safety laboratories in Bulgaria and design and installa pilot version of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Bulgaria

December 2004 – September 2005 in association with iCOM, Sofia and e-Consult, Sofia  
 Recipient: National Veterinary Service
Funding: EU –PHARE
Upgrade of the animal identification system previously implemented by ALC in 2000/2002. The original system has now been upgraded by installing the Worldvet multi-species, internet enabled IT system with access enabled by PDA. Additional functionality with tests and treatments recording; veterinary surveillance; annual inspections scheduling and reporting.

Funding Agency: CPMA-Central Project Management Agency

Technical Assistance in Development of Animal Tracing and Epidemiological Surveillance System Info on project: the scope of the project is to deliver technical assistance towards developing and implementing an integrated animal identification, registration and veterinary surveillance system.
